The 88 will be lighter, only in hatch form i think. The seatbelts are built into the door on 90-91's i fi remember correctly, 88-89 have squarer dash, 90-91s more rounded. Other than that just some styling changes

go 91! The newer the better, aside from the fact the minor style changes look much cleaner smile

and doesn't the older version have tons of vacuum lines in comparison??

The Suspension on the 88 is supposed to be unique in a way that you can't lower it or something. So I would go with the 91 because it is newer and it doesn't have that problem.

the 88's used a double wishbone suspention which I think is quite gay. I own a 91 and it is great its all up to you though. Buy whichever one is in better shape and is suited to your price needs.

The 90-91 versions had painted bumpers, most came with passenger side mirrors, the lenses are better on the front end - look cleaner, styled better. The Instrument Clusters on the 88-89 also tend to get more glare from the sun. Other then that the only difference is that you will pay less then $1000-1500 for something 2 years newer.

I love my 91! I hate the seat belts!!! If they dont reel in theyll hang and when you close the door the get jammed and scratch your paint. Thats my only complaint but to get a car 2 years newer is worth it, even for this little problem.

Yeah, the seat belts in the doors suck. I put Schroth Autocontrols in the drivers side. Much better.
